Fall

It’s my favorite season, Fall. The weather is cool but sunny and just perfect. To me, Fall is a time for family and soccer. Two of my favorite things. It seems like everything starts settling down, the leaves fall and the kids go back to school. The last part is most of the reason that I end up spending more time with family. Everyone gets on a schedule and we work each other into ours. Plus during the summer everyone is so busy and we forget about each other. But it seem like in the Fall everyone slows down and starts thinking again.

In fall school starts again for me and all the other kids out there.  Me personally, I enjoy school. I see my friends, I learn and I have some really fun classes. But it’s the things that come with going to school that make me wish the week was over. The things like getting up at 7:00 am and having an hour to two hours of home almost everyday. When you add that to my already crazy schedule, I have no time. I have soccer practice or a game at least three times a week and add-on my brother’s games I have to attend, everyday I’m at soccer. Then eating dinner and taking a shower, blow drying my hair, straightening/curling it and then sleeping. I have no time other than weekends.

Family and fun is saved for the weekends. On Saturdays I play soccer and either rest, do something fun or special or spend time with my family. On Sundays I sleep late, which is one of my favorite things to do. Most of the time I spend my Sundays with family. My weekends are defiantly my family and rest time. I think it’s that way for most people.  I wonder if people spend more time with family on the weekend because they know they don’t have the time during the week with work and school. But during the summer people in general have more time so they kind of forget to put that time aside.

This weekend I had a soccer game and went to Hershey Park with my dad. The park was so quiet and it was perfect weather. Some of the great things about fall. Tell me, whats your favorite season and why? When do you find you spend the most time with family?  Don’t be shy, please reply and leave comments below, I love me some comments.

A Proud Friend

So I have seen so many post about being a proud mother or a proud father or a proud grandparent. Well I’m none of those things.  So I thought an appropriate name for this would be A Proud Friend. I think people forget about their friends when it comes to: what to post about. I don’t always think about an achievement of a friend as something to be proud of them for.  But now that I’m spending the time to think about it, I am proud of them. All of them for different things.

At the moment I am over-the-top proud of my best friend, Ava.  She recently started her own blog (Avasworldofava.com) and it is flourishing. She has been posting her FABULOUS drawings, some of which I can’t believe she did, but also her lovely writing. I am proud of her mostly for being runner up for the Poughkeepsie Journal’s Scary Story contest! She is an amazing writer and I am truly proud of her. I am proud of her in every way.

Now, I know I’m twelve, but I know the difference between being “proud” of some one and being “happy” for some one. I was happy for Ava when she discovered that she loved sports (I told her she would). I was happy for her when she started her first blog, and then again when she started her second. BUT I am proud of her for sticking with her third blog. I am proud of all the followers Ava has and every view she gets.  And I am over-the-moon proud that she came in second for the scary story contest (not to mention that I edited it for her!) I am truly proud of my best friend, 10 years in the running.

Ava has been very supportive of me. She is a faithful follower and always comments. She has been there for me when I really needed her. Ava is definitely one of, if not, my best friend. We have seen the best and the WORST of each other. We can fight like a cat and dog, then we can make up and be best friends again. We have a bit of a competitive friendship so this happens often but we’re getting better at letting each other win.  She is an amazing friend, and I can’t wait to see what else I can be proud of her for.

I am also proud/happy for my other friends:  Maddie who came in first in the contest and Ali and Alex who got Honorable Mentions. All of the awards my friends won were under the 6-8 grade division. Our class took up all  the spots for that division. Some of my other friends also made it on to the Poughkeepsie Journal’s site for their story’s covers.  I don’t know if any of you remember, but I posted my scary story (Though the Woods) a while back. I didn’t win anything but I still had fun writing it and I hope you enjoyed it.

We accept the love…

We accept the love we think we deserve.

This is a quote from Perks of Being a Wallflower. I love it and everything it is saying. If you think your beautiful, you’ll go find someone who is beautiful on the inside and out, and same goes the other way.

We all have a past…

We all have a past, but this is the present, and baby, you’re my future.
By Hannah

I came up with this after watching a tv show and talking to my mom. I didn’t even realized I’d said something clever, till she said, “Wait, what did you just say?”. Tell me what you think of my new “Quote”!

My one true love

My one true love

My first love

You know the love that you just never forget

You can’t

You don’t want to

The way it makes you feel

Just thinking about it makes you feel all fuzzy inside

Your love inspires you

It helps to make you who you are

It can hurt you in the worst of ways

and bring you out of the darkest days

My one true love.

A love that will stay with me forever

at least the memories will never fade

It might not be there forever

But it’s glory will never leave my heart

I long to see the beauty again, every time I have to leave it

And savor every moment I spend there

I have known it my whole life

And have grown to love it

It has become a part of me in many ways

It will be in my heart forever

That little town in the middle of nowhere

the town with the dreamy ice cream shop, they call The Penguin

The memories of walking up to the small red stand

that became a small window shop

which is now a big beautiful, dreamy-er than before, ice-cream shop

My order hasn’t changed

since I started going to The Penguin

cappuccino ice cream.

Then there are the memories of walking through the woods

I start my journey not knowing quite where I’ll end up

I can feel a cool breeze going down my back

Then a prick on my leg, just another thorn

I’ve gotten used to them after 12 years

It doesn’t faze me a bit

I know the trail to the stream like I know what I’m going to order at The Penguin

The woods now surround me with memories

I get to the top of the hill

The small boys pond

from when the girls claimed the waterfall just up ahead

The sound of the water flowing down the stream warms my heart just like a cappuccino ice-cream from The Penguin cools it on a hot summers day

I make my way up the stream to the flowing waterfall

When the flood came it slowed the beauty

But I can still see it

At the top I can see the little fish thingys that swim around slowly

But once they see you they swim as fast as me running into the penguin when we arrive into town

We climb the last little bit and we’re at the top

Back to the 2nd field

the thorns start sticking to me like flies to honey

I continue to the 2nd pond

Slowly walking, I remember good times

like when my old teacher came up

we heard a mountain lion

then sprinted down the hill

with worries that it might come out and attack

now I reach the pond

prettier than last time

we can’t go swimming in this one

there might be some killer swimmer in there

I take out my net

ready to catch a little, green, slimy, smelly…

frog

and put it on my face

just like I always do

the frogs are easier to catch at the main pond

but they don’t stay on my face as long

so I must make the journey to the 2nd pound on every visit.

Time to make my way back down the hill

not able to venture to things like the roller-coaster this time

because the sun is slowly dimming

that is for tomorrow when we take an ATV ride

Sadly I make my way back to the house

Passing the stream

and leaving the field

I see the main pond and our warm cabin

Slowly I take off my shoes and fall on the couch

barely able to move after my adventures

Then my mom yells out, “Hannah do you want to go to The Penguin?”

I jump up and my answer never changes: “Is that even a question?”

In this poem I am talking about Walton. I have a country house there. It is my place of peace and serenity.

the ones we love will never really leave.

it’s true, the ones we love will never really leave.  a lot of loved ones were lost on 9/11.  but we just have to remember them in our hearts and they will never leave.
